Refresh Your Wardrobe For Free

Do you ever get the feeling that you don’t have clothes to wear and are in a desperate need of breathing some fresh wardrobe air? Well, who doesn’t! However, refreshing a wardrobe comes at a price that not everyone can afford. What if I tell you that you can do it for free? Read on to find out ways to refresh your wardrobe, with just a bit of time and spending no dime.

1. DIY-ing your clothes

This is the most fun way to update your clothes and have them look as good as new. All you need is a pair of scissors and a bit of creativity! Turn your old clothes into new ones by either cutting or sewing them up. Turn your long tops into crop tops; cut your old jeans to make shorts, modify old kurtas into cute shirts and so and so forth. You can even try to make your own accessories. The internet provides a whole lot of ideas when it comes to DIY projects. Pinterest can be a good starting point. The possibilities are endless; get your craft on!

2. Engage in a barter system

Swap some articles of clothing and accessories that your friends or family no longer want. Or just exchange them for some days and rock an entirely new wardrobe. If they have a different style than you, it will help you discover a new territory of fashion. Something you were afraid even to try before or thought that you wouldn’t pull off. Try switching shoes too if they are the same shoe size as you.

3. Style an item differently

Did you know there are MANY different ways to style a clothing item? A loose tee shirt can be worn with different bottoms, layered with different jackets, tucked in 5 different ways, worn with a belt to cinch the waist, similarly, a long shirt can be worn as a dress, accessorized with a belt. The world is your canvas! Try to figure out different ways to style an item, take inspiration from street fashion and celebrities.

Here’s how you can pep-up your basic outfit in different ways.

4. Reorganize your wardrobe

Legend says that the back of a wardrobe contains clothes that are antiques. Unworn and neglected pieces that were purchased impulsively or kept out of attachment. Do yourself a favor, make space in your wardrobe and donate these clothes to a charity or give them to a friend who would use and love the item. Encourage your friends and family to do the same. It may look like a hard decision at first, especially if you’re attached to it. But, it will be a worthy move.

5. Mix-and-match is the key

Combining different elements of your wardrobe can result in an outfit that you think would never work. Play with colors, mix up some patterns and you’d have an avant-garde garment at your disposal. Since we enjoy the heat in all its glory, here is a suggestion. In summers, layering a shirt, shirt dress, a kimono or a shrug over a tank top can look street chic without any item overpowering the whole look while adding a dimension to the entire outfit.

I believe nothing can refresh your wardrobe more than your personal style and a step-out from the comfort zone.
